Terms and Conditions for the Diploma in Professional Financial Advice
1. Registration
- 1.1 It is important that the registration and personal details quoted on the registration confirmation email are correct. If you need to make any amendments to any of these details, you must notify Calibrand Limited as soon as possible but in any case at least 14 days before you sit any examination whichever is the earlier.
- 1.2 Full name: this is your name as held on our records. This will be the name that will appear on any certificates generated for you. If this is incorrect, you must notify Calibrand Limited as soon as possible and at least 14 days before you sit any examination.
- 1.3 Address: this is the address as held on our records, which we will use for all correspondence, including delivery of certificates. If this is incorrect, you must notify Calibrand Limited as soon as possible and at least 14 days before you sit any examination.
- 1.4 Unit: have been registered for the unit(s) shown on your registration confirmation email. If this is incorrect, you must notify Calibrand Limited as soon as possible and at least 14 days before you sit any examination.
2. Fees
- 2.1 The fee(s) that you have paid for this registration is shown on your registration confirmation email.
- 2.2 If you decide the unit (including re-sit payments) is not appropriate to your needs you may cancel your registration. A full refund will be given if received within 14 days of booking and at least 14 days before you sit any examination. There may be an administration fee. After this date all fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- 2.3 The fees paid cover:
- 2.3.1 One sitting of each unit registered.
- 2.3.2 If the candidate passes the Exam Readiness Process they are entitled to one free unit re-sit should they fail their actual examination. The candidate must have attempted the confirmed examination. The free unit re-sit is invalid if the candidate cancels, rearranges or fails to attend their examination on the set date.
3. Training Materials and delivery
- 3.1 The training materials are available online and downloadable via PDF. We do not supply these in paper form.
- 3.2 We advise that the study materials should be read in conjunction with the syllabus. Syllabus details can be found on the Adviser Learning Centre.
- 3.3 During your study period you may require updates. These will reflect any changes to the syllabuses. You will be contacted should it affect you.
- 3.4 It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the most up-to-date materials for your examination. If you are in any doubt please contact the helpdesk.
4. Examination and booking
- 4.1 Examinations are provided daily (Monday to Friday unless otherwise agreed) by electronic delivery through:

4.1.1 Calibrand Limited, who can be contacted on 01332 222680 Advisers will be available from Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17.00.
Early booking is advisable due to demand at many examination centres. All bookings are subject to availability. To cancel or reschedule your examination, you must give at least 14 working days’ notice. There will be no refunds.
- 4.1.2 If due to unforeseen circumstances a test centre is not open, Calibrand Limited will attempt to contact you from the contact details you provide. Calibrand Limited are not responsible for any expense you may have incurred. Calibrand Limited will re-schedule your examination as soon as reasonably practicable.

- 4.2 You must arrive at your examination centre at least 15 minutes before your examination time. If you are late for your examination appointment you will not be allowed to sit and will forfeit your fee.

4.3 You must produce one of the following forms of identification when you arrive at the test centre:
- Current, original passport;
- Current, original, signed, photo card driving licence;
- 4.4 Results for electronically delivered examinations will be provided to you 48 hours after your examination excluding unit 6 where there is 4-5 week wait. You will be sent the result via email.
- 4.5 In order to pass, you must achieve a mark of at least 65% for units 1-5 and 60% for unit 6.
- 4.6 Before your examination starts you will be presented with a non-disclosure and general terms of use declaration. You must choose ‘Yes I accept’ within two minutes in order to take your examination. If you select ‘No, I do not accept’, or do not accept within two minutes, your examination will be terminated and cannot be restarted. You will need to pay the full re-registration fee in order to sit your examination.
- 4.7 During your examination you must comply with the following rules:
- 4.7.1 One bottle of water will be allowed into the room with the candidate however it will need to be a see through bottle. No food or sweets are allowed into the room.
- 4.7.2 Each candidate must sign in and sign out every time they enter and leave the assessment room noting the date and time.
- 4.7.3 If the candidate requires assistance during their exam they must raise their hand and wait for a member of staff. Candidates must not attempt to get the attention of the invigilator verbally.
- 4.7.4 Candidate should not attempt to communicate with another candidate, if the invigilator suspects a candidate they will formally caution the candidate and produce a written report which will be submitted to Calibrand.
- 4.7.5 All answers given in the assessment must be the candidates own work. If the invigilator suspects the candidate of cheating or attempted to cheat the assessment will be terminated, candidate will be asked to leave and the invigilator will write a report.
- 4.7.6 If the candidate persistently attempts to communicate the invigilator has the right to remove the candidate. A Malpractice report will be written.
- 4.7.7 If a calculator is required for the examination it will be provided by the test centre. No candidate should use their own.
- 4.7.8 There will be no break during the assessments. If the candidate requires the toilet then they may go but the assessment time will continue and the time will not be added to the end.
- 4.7.9 Should the candidate finish the assessment before the allotted time they must attempt to minimise their noise to prevent disturbing the other candidates in the room.
5. Re-sit examinations
- 5.1 Re-sit fee is the same as the individual unit fee.
- 5.2 In order to arrange a re-sit examination you must re-register with Calibrand Limited before you can book a new examination date. Candidates will need to re-sit only those units failed. The re-sit fee remains the same regardless of the number of units you need to re-sit. You cannot pay for your re-sit with Calibrand Limited until we have received your results for the original examination.
6. Certificates
- 6.1 You will be sent individual results certificates detailing the results of each examination. This will be sent within two weeks of your examination. You will receive an overall qualification certificate within 30 working days of completing the qualification. If you do not receive a letter of achievement or overall certificate within these timescales, please contact us.
- 6.2 The name quoted on your results certificate will be the name used on the SQA certificate. If this is incorrect you have to contact us immediately. If you do not do this, you will be required to pay a fee for a replacement certificate.
- 6.3 You will only receive a certificate for the qualification you have registered for.
7. Calibrand Limited Policies
- 7.1 Written policies are available on request for the following areas:
- Special Consideration Policy – For candidates who are unable to attend an examination and/or feel they have been perform due to unforeseen circumstances beyond their control, e.g. accident, sudden illness, disruption in the examination
- Reasonable Adjustments Policy – Applies to students for whom the standard arrangements for the delivery of, and response to, the examination may adversely affect their ability to demonstrate their true performance level

- Data Protection Policy - Applies to all candidates. Data received by us is processed in accordance with the principles of the UK Data Protection Act (1998). Calibrand Limited do not store credit card details. We only share customer details with 3rd parties at your consent.
